International children's festival of cinema and television

«KINOSVET»

 The International Children's Film and Television Festival "KINOSVET" will be held on July 8-15, 2018,  at the beautiful Three Rivers Culture and Education Campus, (a.k.a. “Svyatoust” in Russian; “Svetgrivas” in Latvian), which is located just 45 km from the capital of Latvia - Riga! We are expecting over 100 children and adolescents from Latvia and around the world to participate in the festival. Attendees will be trained by well-known cinema professionals and masters of personal growth. There will be discussions about cinematography masterpieces and their societal impact, and master-classes to guide them in the creation of their own educational films.

 

     The purpose of our festival is to support young filmmakers and to inspire them to

shoot positive and goodhearted films by introducing and sharing filmmaking experiences with them, and talking about the possibilities of modern technology. Many of them dream to work with such technology, and therefore one of the objectives of the festival is to accomplish these children's dreams.

 

     It is a charity festival! All participants are welcomed by the organizers free of charge! Our festival is operates on a volunteer basis, but we believe that there are people and companies in the world who are ready to share the idea of ​​the revival of quality cinema by and for children.

About

     What movies and TV shows are shown around the world today? Who teaches contemporary and, most importantly, future artists and media ways to illuminate moral and, spiritual laws? Who controls the content and ideological direction of the most meaningful and strong types of art? The festival’s purpose is to seek, find, and give a venue to young talents who can create beautiful and meaningful art that makes our world brighter and kinder.

The «KINOSVET» invites children and adolescents aged 10 to 18 from all over the world who are interested in professions in the field of cinema and television!

During the festival, contestants can learn and participate in various exciting programs:

  • The Academy «KinoLider» — the creative-educational laboratory where kids age 10–18 who are enrolled in film/television studios.

  • «KinoProfi» — the best selection of the best professional children films will be chosen during this program. The highest criteria will be «valuable for the soul growth» principle.

In addition to film education, children are open to learn about personal development, future professional goals and careers, meeting new friends from different countries, singing and dancing by the fire — and lifelong memories!

The festival will be held in a most harmonious and beautiful place, on the river banks at the Three Rivers Campus, known locally as «SVYATOUSTE», in the, Jelgava district, Latvia.

Our history

The first International Children Cinema and TV festival was held from the 2nd  to the 6 the of July 2017. Children from 7 countries of the world arrived to the festival. Among them were children who had been learning at movie schools, TV studios and those who had never made their own movies before. During the festival they had different training and master classes on acting art, writing scripts, the basics of journalism, making TV programs and feature movies. All the participants of the festival were put into 4 different teams: feature movie, documentary, animation and creation of TV programs. For only a few days wonderful art works were created with guidance of talented and wise masters.

The purposes of the festival:

 - Moral education of children and teenagers;

 - Personality shaping with the help of cinema;

 - Familiarization of the younger generation with spiritual culture;

Increasing interest in the creation of movies for children and youth.

 

The objectives of the festival:

- Fill the world with good images of humane ideas and moral values in order to make our world brighter;

- Revive cinema for children, youth and family;

- Bring the world’s attention to social problems associated with children, people in need and nature;

- Promote true, universal spiritual values;

- Educate a new generation of filmmakers;

- Expand and strengthen the connections between filmmakers from different countries working for children and youth;

Attract attention of state, public and commercial organizations to supporting children's, family filmmaking, encouraging young authors.

The final list of Master and Teachers of the festival is currently underway, however.  

The Festival is honored to note that the following highly accomplished Mentors, Masters, and Teachers have already accepted invitations to serve as Festival Jury Members:

Five works from all over the world will be selected from each nomination.

The festival of cinema and television «KINOSVET» is not aimed at supporting rivalry among young artists, but calls for collaboration and cooperation. ALL of the works selected for the festival already will be victorious. And ALL will receive memorable prizes at the festival.

Rules

The festival selection committee gives priority to films that elevates and promotes questions of friendship, loyalty, honor, love, compassion, mercy, respect, diligence, responsibility, patience, sincerity, and other moral values.

· Films previously presented at other film festivals can take part in the competition.

· The festival management reserves the right to use the fragments of the film for promotional purposes of the festival

·  All submitted works must be free of

         ·Scenes and subjects that offend and discriminate the feelings, looks, associations etc of devotees (of various faiths and religions)

         · Plots and frames that advertise or promote drugs, alcohol, smoking, and other vices

         · Scenes of cruelty and violence

         · non-normative vocabulary and obscene language

To pre-qualify for the festival selection, you need to send a link for downloading the movie. By agreement of the parties, another form of transfer of materials may be used. For any questions, please contact us at: festivalkinosvet@gmail.com

Duration of the work is not limited.

To participate in the festival, you need to provide materials for the booklet:

· an abstract of the film

· a photo of the director

· 2 frames from the competitive film

 

In case the winner can not arrive and participate in the festival, the copy of the diploma will be send to him via e-mail. The jury from it's side can invite other participants on their own choice (out of competition).

Materials submitted to the festival are not returned to the authors.

 

The organizers of the festival are not responsible for errors and inaccuracies contained in the application. Mounted fragments or excerpts from several programs are not accepted.

    The organizers of the festival do not bear responsibility for violation of copyright by third parties.
